Safety and Hygiene Tips

Here at Flux we take care to make chastity devices we believe in. After all, we wear them too! However, your use of our products is ultimately at your own risk. We’ve collected these tips to help you have a safer and more hygienic experience with your Flux chastity belt.

We can't guarantee that flux belts can be sterilized

Everyday cleaning is easy using regular soap and water but, because our belts have more nooks and crannies than a normal sex toy, we can't guarantee that any at home process will completely sterilize them. Boiling flux chastity belts is not recommended due to the risk of warping the polymer parts.

Don't jump in the deep end

Getting a new chastity belt is an exciting experience! For many enthusiasts, it’s a long anticipated fantasy come true. However, as with anything else that fits so closely to your body, it can take time to adjust to. Don’t commit to wearing your new belt continuously out of the gate, especially if it’s your first time wearing a full chastity belt. Listen to your body and remove or adjust the belt if any discomfort arises. Over time, you should find that the belt is comfortable for longer and longer periods.

Listen to your body

Chastity belts are meant to fit snugly. A belt that is too loose will not only be less secure, but can cause rubbing and chafing as it moves around. Adjust your belt to hug your body closely, without being so tight that it cuts off circulation or otherwise causes discomfort. If you notice pressure points, skin irritation, or any other pain or discomfort, don’t ignore it. Investigate the cause and address it. Chafing can be helped by the use of a moisturizer or a skin protectant. Pressure points indicate your belt may need adjustment. In some cases, you might find that you need to take a break from wearing the belt.

Remember your Flux belt still has metal parts

While our belts are largely made from polymers, they still use metal hardware in the locks, hinges, adjustment mechanisms, accessory mounts, and rear cable. This can potentially set off metal detectors. Also, it means that our belts should never be worn during an MRI.

Moisturize

Particularly when you first start wearing a chastity belt, a daily or even multiple times per day moisturization routine is one of the most important things you can do for your comfort! We recommend a good quality unscented body lotion. For any spots where you notice specific irritation, a skin protectant or even diaper rash cream can be used.

Keep it clean

While wearing a chastity belt, bathing or showering daily is a must for most people. You can use whatever soap or body wash you prefer, just make sure to thoroughly wash and rinse.. A detachable hose style shower head can make this process easier.

Try using a bidet or portable bidet bottle

Either will make toilet hygiene easier. Wet wipes are another helpful option.

Have an emergency exit

We get it, being stuck in a chastity belt with no way out is a huge fantasy for many! However, it pays to be prepared for real-life emergencies. We recommend carrying an emergency key (sealed in the included tamper resistant key sleeve if you like) any time you’re physically separated from your keyholder. This way you can quickly remove your belt without damage in the case of a medical or other emergency, while still keeping secure.
